How to analyze Meta stock as a beginner

Updated September 7, 2026 · Education, not a price target

Meta sells ads against time in Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and related apps. It also spends on Reality Labs. Beginners pick a side. Read both. This page is a five-question checklist. The META stock page is the shorter product walkthrough. Finorify is the stock analysis app you use to answer the questions.

1. Can you split ads from the lab?

Write one sentence for the ad engine: who pays, and whether that line still grew in a boring year. Write a second sentence for Reality Labs: what is being built, and what it cost. If you only have “the apps print money” or “the headset burns cash,” you have a take, not a read.

2. Does cash show up after the spend?

Ads can look fine while the lab eats the year. Open earnings next to free cash flow. If profit looks fat and cash does not, stop. Ask whether you are willing to fund the lab. A brand you open every day does not excuse a missing cash line.

3. Are you treating users as revenue?

Time spent is not a cash line. Advertisers pay. If the only new fact you have is a user number or a Reels headline, you do not yet have an analysis. Read multi-year revenue and margins first. Then decide if the usage story is extra.

4. What does the scorecard actually summarize?

The quality scorecard compresses many filing lines so you do not drown. Use it after the charts, not as a vote on the founder or the headset. If a term is new, open the help sheet. Then go back to the chart.

5. Does today’s price assume ads stay easy?

Only now open the DCF. Ask whether your growth guess is boring or heroic. If the entry only works if ads stay this easy and the lab becomes a rounding error on schedule, write that down. Then check the next earnings date. That is how you understand a stock before you buy it.

Where to click

  1. Open META in Finorify on the web, or the iOS / Android app.
  2. Revenue first. Cash second. Scorecard third. DCF last.
  3. Keep the notes. Finorify does not place the trade.

Another ads engine: Alphabet. Numbers are for education. You are responsible for your own decisions. Markets can lose money.
